Organisation

I’m shit at being organised, from doing my homework on the bus to school to getting into work on time.

That said, things normally turn out well in the end. The old ‘it’ll be alright on the night’ addage.

Last week I was supposed to stop in and practice my singing for the party. I just about got hold of all the tracks last minute and tried to practice – I sounded shit.

I took a break, tried again. Sounded shit. So I went out and got pissed. What else is there to do?

Next day, I tried again still wasn’t working. I told Stav, he said “you’re trying to hard, just enjoy it and it will work” – as far as I can work out, it did.

I enjoyed it, the first song (summer wind) was a bit ropey, like a warm up song. I had the Sinatra version but I wanted to sing the uptemo Bublé version and the two styles were conflicting in my head. The only downside was the words. While I found it hard to practice – singing in a small room with the backing coming from my little speakers, I should have made more of an effort to learn the words. Again, I’m not sure if many people noticed but I kept forgetting the words. I had them printed out too, but bacon couldn’t find his music stand so I had to put them on the chair.

Next time I would learn the lyrics a bit better than I thought I knew them.

Overall I think it went ok, some people were singing along and I got a few ripples of applause. I was pleased-ish with my performance.

That aside, the party was excellent. Roulette and Blackjack tables, great food (more dead flesh than you can throw a stick at) and a disco, who played far too much Queen.

There was also a magician who was annoyingly good. He opened a ring box and insde was a bit of paper, nice quality paper – he he let me touch it, then in a blink of an eye it turned into a twenty pound note. The bastard. I wish I could do that, I’ve got reams fo the stuff here!
