The dentist showed everyone my strange tooth, in many years she said she had not seen on as unusual as this, I let them keep it to show their students. Had I have thought ahead I would have taken a photo. One of the roots was sticking out to the side causing the infection and moon face sydrome (as I like to call it) and the other one went three miles into my gum and had a bulbus bit at the end. I have tried to draw a picture to give you the idea but it’s not very good.

So a week of anti-biotics, painkillers and no booze awaits but the worst of it is over. I’ve got to be honest, for all my shitting myself about it, it wasn’t that bad. You cant help the aprehension I suppose, unless you get really drunk before hand!

I have an appointment to go back, they couldn’t fit me in till December so they’re deciding to do it during their lunch hour on Monday. Their lunch hour! How overworked/understaffed are they if they don’t have any free slots for 5 months and have to work through their lunch to fit me in?

The good news is, no general aesthetic which I’m pleased about that. The surgeon says that they have a limit on how much general they can administer without it being in a full on operating theatre and (I love this) my neck is too short for general and if I get knocked out sitting up my head is too heavy and I wont be able to breathe. But she says Local is better and it wont hurt any more than when the dentist gave me that filling and SCRAPED a load of infection from the inside of my gum through the hole she made with a pair of tweezers – I’m glad to hear it cause that really fucking hurt!

So Monday, 12:50pm I’m going to be sitting in the waiting room shitting myself. Cheers!

UPDATE (26/07): You should have seen the gunk that just came out of that bad boy. urggghh

I was going to just ride it out till I saw the surgeon in two weeks but this week the skin has grown tighter and the infection got bigger and more tender. It feels like a massive spot waiting to burst – I phoned the doctor yesterday afternoon and he advised me that there wasn’t much we can do – anti-biotics wont help now and that I should see him on Monday unless it got worse then I should go to A&E.

And so this morning it got bigger and more tender so after doing some work for my Dad’s place I headed to A&E. I was seen pretty quick by the nurse and then directed to a bay, I sat in there sometime promising to myself and anyone that cared to listen that I would do a runner rather than stay in, and they could fuck right off if they wanted me to put one of them arse-less gowns on!

While we were waiting we heard a girl in the next bay on her phone (which I’m sure shouldn’t have been on), She’d phoned her mate and was telling them that she’d taken a big spanner to her boyfriends Car, cause he’d done it with a hammer to her motor last night. While smashing the windows of his car she managed to lop the top off her finger. She told her friend that her mom and dad watched her do it and that the police were waiting to arrest her when she’s been fixed up. “so I’ll speak to you when they let me out” – So matter of fact, as if she’d been nicked more than once before!

Classy eh? I’m thinking of going private.

So the doctor comes to see me after about 20 mins in the bay, he asks me what’s up and I tell him the story, he starts prodding it and asking if it hurts – nope, it’s just uncomfortable. He prods it more, like he was bashing the run buttons on a Nintendo track and field game.

“YES – THAT HURTS NOW”

So he says he’ll give me some anti-biotics and I should see my GP next week. It’s not ready to lance today. With that he was gone. He’d spent a massive 68 seconds with me. Ten mins later I was out with some big pills to take on an empty stomach – when is my stomach ever empty? I can’t drink either. Balls.

I’m under strict instruction to go to A&E if the infection gets worse over the weekend, yay.

So my face is still swollen and I’m on ulta strong antibiotics, ones you can’t drink on. It’s friday and I want to go out, for over a week I’ve been looking at the same four walls. So I’m going to go out, I cannot drink at all or my head will explode, so I’m going to sit and be the sober man. It’s going to be strange when Rich starts spouting off his random drunken shit but to be honest it’s not much different from his random sober shit.

I hope I’ll be ok. I WILL be ok, I have the support of my brother and friends to help me in this drink free time.

I can’t go to the dentist because it’s a long weekend and they’re not open till Tuesday, they’ll just give me more anti biotic anyway when what I really need is this tooth ripped out. Then I’m concerned when they do rip it out that I might have to have general anaesthetic, for some reason this really scares the shit out of me. I hope I get the option for local anaesthetic, at least I can see what they’re doing then.

I’m hoping this infection is sorted out by my body without any chemical help, I’ve just eaten two oranges and I’m making sure I eat and drink plenty to keep my energy up, my face is warm, it’s weird.

In other news I’m buying some tomato seeds, a propagator and some other horticultural shite tomorrow, going to have a razz at growing Tomatoes. Merkio Toms on sale soon.

Most of last week I had jaw ache, I thought it may be related to the wisdom tooth on my lower left side, it’s been trying to push through now for years but normally does that pushy pain thing for a couple of days and then goes away. Not this time.

I woke on Monday after about 2 hours sleep all night, dosed up to the eyebrows I spent most of the day close to tears in bed. I phoned my dentist who told me that the soonest they could see me was June. No chance, they could have referred me to dental matters (?) in donnington but it would be full price. Again, no chance. So I phoned one in dawley and managed to get an appointment. Off I hopped and an hour later I’d had a filling and told I should take some anti-biotics. If the pain continued then to go back.

So I headed off to work and tried my best to do some work. I lasted about an hour the pain was too much, again close to tears.

I went home, dosed up with Nurofen and tried to sleep. I woke up about 3am with harsh pain but also a massive chin. Now those of you who know me know I’ve got a big chin anyway but this thing is swollen so bad it hurts to touch and pretty much makes my head perfectly round. It hurts to eat and drink which incidentally are my two favourite hobbies! Nice.

I went back to the dentist who poked it and scraped it some more then gave me stronger anti-biotics. They’ll take at least 24 hours to kick in apparently so I’m typing this off my face on painkillers and anti-biotics.

The dentist told me I’ll have to have the tooth extracted but it will be a hospital job and they will get in touch with me…In about SIX MONTHS.

I’m taking the rest of the week off work, I cant speak properly, I cant even open my mouth without it hurting, and I’ve had nothing but a 2 finger kit kat (The sort of thing I’d normally devour in about 2 seconds) to eat in the last 24 hours.

Anyway, that’s my moan. I thought I’d share it with you all.

Wisdom consists of the anticipation of consequences.

Right now the consequences are painful. One of my wisdom teeth is pushing through again and it’s really hurting. I feel like someone is constantly kneeing me in the jaw.

It’s pissing me off. Please settle down Wisdom tooth, please go back and dont bother me for another couple of years. I dont want to have my mouth ripped open by some sadistic dentist.
